Frank was originally from The Bronx, New York, and was the intended pilot of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815. He first appeared in The Bahamas, reporting that the body identified as the pilot on television news was incorrect. Hired by Charles Widmore, he piloted a helicopter to the island where his team parachuted to safety after the craft malfunctioned; Frank landed without significant damage. He later disagreed with mercenary Martin Keamy's actions against Benjamin Linus, helping survivors avoid capture and secretly transferring a satellite phone as a warning. When fuel ran low during an escape attempt, he crashed into the ocean with Sayid, Desmond, Jack Shephard, Hugo Reyes, Kate Austen, Sun-Hwa Kwon, and Aaron Littleton; they were rescued by Penelope Widmore's ship, The Searcher. Three years later, Frank was piloting Flight 316 when he encountered the Oceanic Six again. After extreme turbulence forced a landing on Hydra Island where his co-pilot died, Frank accompanied Sun and Ben to the main island. There they learned remaining survivors had traveled back to 1977. Frank returned to Hydra Island but was attacked by Ilana after failing to answer her cryptic question about the statue's shadow. Transported to the main island in an outrigger, he joined a group led by Ilana and Bram who were searching for 'candidates.' In the series finale, Frank revealed to Ben that he had been the original pilot of Flight 815. After the Man in Black rigged the Ajira plane with C4, the group took control of Widmore's submarine. When Sayid sacrificed himself to neutralize the explosion causing the sub to sink, Frank was knocked out but later revived on the surface. Convinced Richard Alpert and Miles Straume to steal the damaged Ajira plane, he repaired it and flew Kate, Claire, and Sawyer off the island.
